Chris Gayle is quite an entertainer. The left-handed swashbuckling batter might not be playing in the forthcoming edition of the T20 tournament but he still continues to entertain fans and those around him, being the colourful and lively personality that he is. Gayle was part of the expert panel on auction day at Jio Cinema’s coverage of the event. And as expected, Gayle was at his hilarious best during the entire day, cracking one punchline after the other.
At one particular instance, Gayle joked about lending money to Nicholas Pooran as soon as the latter became the most expensive West Indies Player ever at the IPL Auctions. Notably, the 27-year-old was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 16 crores.
Check out Gayle’s hilarious jokes on the auction day:

During another lighter moment, Gayle made sure he took at a dig at former Punjab Kings head coach Anil Kumble. The Universe Boss said that when Kumble was at the helm of affairs the latter chopped and changed him in the team which was the reason the legendary leg-spinner had been chopped and changed himself, referring to Kumble’s sacking and appointment of Trevor Bayliss as the franchise’s new head coach.
Shikhar Dhawan to lead PBKS in IPL 2023
Meanwhile, the team had already announced that Shikhar Dhawan will be their captain in IPL 2023. The decision came after the franchise had decided to part ways with Mayank Agarwal who was their captain last season. Mayank was released at the auction where Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for INR 8.25 crore.
Soon after it was confirmed that the top-order batter would be plying his trade for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mayank took to Twitter to express his joy. “Delighted to be part of @SunRisers 🙌🏽 #OrangeArmy,” he wrote.
IPL 2023 is likely to start on April 1, although an official confirmation of the same from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaited.
