This Father’s Day, actor Aparshakti Khurana experiences a blend of emotions. The actor feels “a deep sorrow” as it marks the first Father’s Day without his own father, P Khurana, who passed away last month.
Aparshakti Khurana reflects on his first Father’s Day without dad; says, “It is going to be difficult”
In an interview with Indian Express, Aparshakti asserted, “Spending time with my baby is a very important aspect in this phase of my life, especially because of my hectic work schedule. So, I am going to be with her the whole day. This is the first Father’s Day when I won’t have my dad, so it is going to be difficult as well. In a way we have given a very celebratory goodbye to him and I would like to stick to that feeling and try to inculcate the discipline and all the qualities he’s given to me in life.
As the conversation progressed further, the Dangal actor said, “I have many beautiful memories with my father. But there are these two anecdotes that I would like to share. He used to say this one thing very often, to me and bhaiya (Ayushmann Khurrana), and also to others. He would share that when Ram won the war against Ravana, the king of Lanka said the reason you won is that your brother stood by you whereas my brother didn’t. Saying such things, inculcating such values is very important in this day and age as it makes a very positive impact on your life — personal and professional.”
The Pati Patni Aur Woh actor also shared a touching anecdote about discussing their family’s old house with their father after moving to a new one in Chandigarh. He was grateful to have spent a whole day with him before his health declined. He recalled that at the hospital, his father was cheerful and positive, sharing profound thoughts. Aparshakti recalled suggesting that the old house be given to his brother, Ayushmann and the latter had also expressed the same idea.
This delighted their father, who, as an astrologer, usually dealt with people seeking property, not giving it away. Reflecting on their father’s words, Aparshakti expressed gratitude for having such a father and treasured the strong bond between themselves and Ayushmann. He wished for his daughter to embrace similar values and found solace in various reminders of their beloved father, who was also happy about the success of Jubilee.
