The trophy tour of International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, slated to be held in India later this year, started on a grand scale. The 2023 edition of the trophy tour began on a grand note and is undoubtedly the biggest by far. The 2023 ODI World Cup trophy was launched on a stratospheric scale, one lakh 20 thousand feet above the earth before making a spectacular landing at world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. The trophy was attached to a bespoke stratospheric balloon to be launched into space, giving fans in various countries a chance to connect with the trophy.
“An out-of-this-world moment for the cricketing world as the #CW23 trophy unveiled in space. Marks a milestone of being one of the first official sporting trophies to be sent to space. Indeed a galactic start for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour in India,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah wrote on Twitter.
