Bollywood actress Kajol who is currently promoting her upcoming series The Trial spoke candidly about the undue pressure faced by young actresses, who are often compelled to undergo plastic surgery in order to conform to the beauty standards prevalent in the entertainment industry. Having personally experienced criticism regarding her appearance in the early stages of her career, the actor firmly expressed her belief that no individual should be coerced into undergoing any form of surgical alteration.

Kajol speaks out against pressure on young actresses to undergo plastic surgery; says, “It should be a personal choice”

During a recent interview with Zoom, Kajol was questioned about the advice she would offer to aspiring actresses entering the industry. Responding promptly, the actress emphasized the importance of not succumbing to any pressure and advised young girls against resorting to cosmetic surgery. She said, “God has made you in a particular way, and for what god has not made the way you wanted, there’s always make-up.”

The Trial director Suparn Verma further added that surgery should be optional. To which, Kajol agreed and said, “Exactly, that’s what I mean. That it should be a personal choice, you shouldn’t do it because 25 people have told you to do it.”

At present, Kajol is receiving acclaim for her role in Lust Stories 2, a recent release on Netflix. In the anthology, she appeared in Amit Sharma’s short film alongside Kumud Mishra. The remaining three short films were directed by Konkona Sensharma, R Balki, and Sujoy Ghosh. Additionally, Kajol is starring in the show The Trial, alongside Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chaddha, and Kubbra Sait. The Trial, it is a Hindi adaptation of the American political-legal drama, The Good Wife. The series will start streaming on the OTT platform from July 14 onwards.
