Tahir Raj Bhasin is gearing up for the release of the period web series, Sultan of Delhi, helmed by director Milan Luthria in which he will be seen in a different role. Tahir will be donning the character of a gangster, a glimpse of which we got in the trailer that was released last week. Interestingly, this is the first time he will be portraying such a role, which is starkly different from the characters and roles he has essayed over the years.

Commenting on his varied choice of roles, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “I have never conformed to doing one type of a role or stuck to one genre in cinema. Growth lies outside of one’s comfort zone and I don’t want to be limited in the kind of roles I do or be put in a box. For me, the essence of stardom is when you can lend your voice to a part and make it memorable.” He went on to add, “As an actor, I feel I can experience so much and can create so many varying protagonists that it’s exciting to not set boundaries. So, be it for my films like Mardaani and Chhichhore, or for streaming projects like Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, Looop Lapeta and now Sultan of Delhi, I will always want to be known for being an actor who pushes the envelope. I pick varied roles because I thrive when facing a challenge. I want to evolve my craft and for me, this is a work in progress with each new project.”

Speaking of Sultan of Delhi, it is produced by Reliance Entertainment and co-directed as well as co-written by Suparn Verma along with Milan Luthria. It also marks the latter’s OTT directorial debut. The series stars Anjum Sharma, veteran actor Vinay Pathak alongside Nishant Dahiya along with Tahir Raj Bhasin and the leading ladies include Anupriya Goenka, Mouni Roy, Harleen Sethi and Mehreen Pirzada. Sultan of Delhi is set to stream on October 13 onwards, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
