GTA San Andreas is one of the most-loved titles in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Facebook parent Meta has reportedly confirmed that the VR version of the title will not get any updates. In 2021, Meta announced the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas VR. At that time, the company assured that the game would be accessible on the Oculus Quest 2 (which is now known as Meta Quest 2). The company also promised to share more information within a short time. However, almost three years after the initial announcement, the title has yet to become available. Rumours suggest that the development may have encountered some challenges.
When asked about the potential release date for the VR version of GTA San Andreas during Connect 2023, a spokesperson of the social media giant said that there are no updates at the moment, reports GameRant. This suggests that the game may not be announced in 2023. The report also didn’t confirm if Meta is planning to cancel the VR title altogether.
Meta has already announced Quest 3 in the US
This title was originally announced for Meta Quest 2. Last month, Meta showcased the upcoming headset for the first time. The company explained that it will improve the gamer’s experience when compared to Meta Quest 2.
Meta Quest 3: Key specs
The headset is available in the US in two versions — one with 128 GB and another with 512 GB at $499 and $649, respectively. The device is lighter and has multiple advanced camera sensors. It’s backed up with 8 GB of RAM, as well as a 4K+ Infinite Display with 2064×2208 resolution per eye. For connectivity, the headset is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E and has other features.
If Meta finally rolls out the GTA: San Andreas VR is finally out, it will likely be available on both Meta Quest 2 and 3. However, the company has yet to confirm any launch window.
