Former India pacer RP Singh has made a bold claim that he would want RCB to play Lockie Ferguson instead of Alzarri Joseph in their lineup after buying the latter for a big amount of money during the IPL Auction 2024.
RCB made significant moves to bolster their fast bowling unit by acquiring Alzarri Joseph and Lockie Ferguson. The auction, which concluded on a Tuesday in Dubai, saw RCB spend a substantial amount of Rs. 11.5 crore to secure West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph, making him one of their most expensive buys.

Ferguson was another strategic acquisition for RCB, bought for Rs. 2 crore during the accelerated auction process. With many expecting the West Indian pacer to be a part of the lineup due to his higher price, Singh made an interesting statement.
While talking on JioCinema, the former Indian pacer said that Ferguson should be preferred over Joseph in the playing XI due to his potential impact on the game. RP Singh also expressed surprise at RCB’s aggressive pursuit of Joseph and their later decision to include Ferguson in their squad.
“I will make one change. I will want to keep Lockie Ferguson instead of Alzarri Joseph. I feel he can have a bigger impact. If you have given more money to someone, it doesn’t mean you have to play him, or that you need to build your team around him.”
“RCB surprised me a little. The most surprising thing was they left Lockie Ferguson and went a long way for Alzarri Joseph, who was the next player after him. Then they also included Yash Dayal in their team. They also took Tom Curran later,” said RP Singh.
After letting the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel leave their side, RCB decided to revamp their bowling by bringing in Yash Dayal, Tom Curran and Swapnil Singh, apart from the additions of Joseph and Ferguson.
