Georgia Wareham said that Australia will try to be ruthless in their upcoming Women’s T20I series against Harmanpreet Kaur’s India.
Australia will be high on confidence after recently beating India 3-0 in the three-match ODI series. Wareham said that the visiting team would not want to drop their guard, and rather up their game further in the shorter format.
“We speak and speak about that a lot in our meetings, being ruthless. And when we’re on top, we like to keep doing that and not let it slip. If we get the opportunity to be in that position again, I think we’re going keep on trying to be as ruthless as possible,” Wareham was quoted as saying to the reporters.
Wareham, who is amongst Australia’s premier spinners along with the likes of Alana King and Ash Gardner, also spoke about the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup to be held later this year.
“India being such great competition is really good practice, but at the same time, we still want to win all three of these games. It’s a really good challenge to see where we’re at, coming up into the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” Wareham added.
The first T20I between India and Australia is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 5 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Wareham is expected to play a key role in the series as she has picked up 44 wickets from 46 T20Is at an excellent economy rate of 6.23. The 24-year-old is also a key striker of the ball, having played handy knocks for Australia and in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
