To boost the localised app ecosystem in India, PhonePe has announced its new Indus Appstore with over 2 lakh mobile apps and games available for users to download. The new app store from the UPI-based payment app aims to create a localised app store ecosystem in the country.
PhonePe Indus Appstore: What’s on offer
Indus Appstore currently has over 2 lakh mobile apps and games available in 45 different categories and it supports 12 different Indian languages, catering over 95% of Indian’s language preferences.
The app store also offers a brand new short-video based discovery feature, to make new app discovery more engaging for consumers.
Supports third-party payment gateways
PhonePe has also allowed app developers to choose any third-party payment gateway for in-app billing without any additional cost. PhonePe also plans to integrate its own in-app billing and catalogue solutions, as an option to app developers in future.
Further, to accelerate developer registrations, Indus is offering zero listing fees to developers for one year.

Things you need to know about installing the Indus Appstore on your phone
- Indus Appstore is a third-party store that needs to be installed via the .apk file using the sideloading process as it is now listed on Google Play Store.
- Apps downloaded using the Indus Appstore will also be sideloaded via the download apk file from the app store.
- Google’s official support page mentions that “If you download apps from unknown sources, your device and personal information can be at risk. Your device could get damaged or lose data. Your personal information could be harmed or hacked.”
Steps to download Indus App store
- Head to www.indusappstore.com
- Click on the download button from your mobile browser.
- An APK file will be downloaded to your mobile device, simply open it and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
Alternatively, you can visit the website (indusappstore.com) on your web browser and either scan the QR code or enter your mobile number to get the download link.
