Some car owners are facing issues while charging their iPhone 15 series models with their in-vehicle charging system. BMW and Toyota Supra model owners have reported that when their iPhone 15 is connected to the in-car wireless charging systems, it temporarily deactivates the Near-Field Communications (NFC) capabilities of the smartphones.

How this issue is affecting users
According to a report by AppleInsider, this bug is causing users to see an error message that says: “Could not set up Apple Pay” even when the payment platform has already been configured. This week Apple released the iOS 17.1 update which didn’t seem to fix the issue. So, the company is expected to fix the issue with the next update.
What Apple has to say
The iPhone maker has posted a service bulletin through its authorised service provider network that acknowledges the problem. The company has also linked the issue to a “small number” of wireless chargers included with some BMW and Toyota Supra vehicles.

Apple has also advised customers not to use wireless charging in those vehicles until the company rolls out a software patch to fix the issue.
The company has also asked users to reset the NFC chip in the iPhone using Apple Service Toolkit 2. This is a software utility used by Apple retail stores and authorised service providers. If nothing works, users can also their iPhones to Apple for hardware repair.
Apple has confirmed that the issue will be resolved with an upcoming software update. However, the company did not specify when the update will be rolled out.
