Apple has plans to refresh its iPad and Mac lineup this coming Spring with several new models in tow. In early 2024, we could see a new iPad Air, iPad Pro, along with overhauled accessories. There is also a new MacBook Air coming in the works, slated for release early next year.
Two new models of iPad are currently being developed for release in late March, as reported by Mark Gurmanof Bloomberg. The models are said to be the iPad Air and iPad Pro, and both will be available in two different sizes – a first for the iPad Air.
Two new iPads with new Magic accessories
iPad Air could have two sizes – 10.9 inches and 12.9 inches. This would be the first time that iPad Air is being made available in different screen sizes, and Gurman suggests that the aim behind this is to provide customers with more options at different price points. With the larger screen size option, consumers can enjoy a bigger display without having to pay for a rather expensive iPad Pro.
iPad Pro, as usual, will come in two sizes – 11 inches and 13 inches. However, the iPad Pro models will feature an OLED instead of a miniLED this time. Then, the Pro models are also in for a hardware upgrade, with an M3 chip expected to power the two models.
Alongside the new iPad Pro, there are new Magic accessories in the works, including a new Apple Pencil and two new Magic Keyboards. The new Magic Keyboard will be made out of aluminum and is said to provide a laptop-like experience.
MacBook Air to get M3 upgrade
While the MacBook Air is not due for a design refresh, they certainly are in for a hardware refresh. Gurman suggests that both the sizes of MacBook Air – the 13-inch one and the newly introduced 15-inch one – will get their due M3 chip early next year.
The new iPad models and MacBook Air are expected to hit the shelves in March, alongside the iPadOS 17.4 and macOS 14.3 update.
Gurman suggests that Apple is hoping that the new models will help boost demand in the coming year. In the past year, there has been a decline in sales of iPads and Macs. iPad sales were affected because of the lack of new models, as no new models will be released in 2023, a first in the lineup’s history. Mac sales are also down, but that has been the case with the broader computer industry after the pandemic.
