WWDC 2023: What to expect
As per the report, Apple will make multiple important announcements at WWDC 2023. The company is expected to launch the much-anticipated Apple AR/VR headset, which is expected to be named the Reality Pro. Apple may also introduce the xrOS operating system which will run the mixed reality headset. The company is also expected to roll out the iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14 and watchOS 10 operating systems for the respective devices. Apart from this, Apple is also rumoured to launch new MacBook models at the event.
Apple Reality Pro AR/VR headset: What to expect
Apple’s long-rumoured AR/VR headset has already faced multiple delays and issues. In March, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the company wasn’t “optimistic” about its AR/VR headset launch. Kuo also suggested that the device is doubtful to be announced at the WWDC 2023.
The latest report by Gurman claims that the headset will be “the star of the show”. He also mentioned that the device will be powered by the xrOS operating system and Apple will also introduce a software development kit (SDK) of the same.
Gurman also noted that Apple will have a “clear story for developers” about how they will be able to use it. The company is also expected to “spend a lot of the conference” to showcase the device’s custom tools and App Store.
The report also claims that the headset may be out “in time for the holidays,” which may mean the second half of 2023. However, the device is not expected to go on sale “for several months,” which will offer developers time to create experiences for it.
WWDC 2023: Other expected announcements
Apart from the Reality Pro headset, Apple is also rumoured to announce new devices under the Mac lineup. However, the company may not launch any new iPad models. Moreover, Apple is also expected to launch new software for other devices including iPhones, iPads and Apple Watch. The watchOS 10 is also likely to be the ‘biggest update to the Apple Watch’s software since the first version was introduced in 2015’.
