NEW DELHI: The Indian rowing team consisting of Ashish Kumar, Bheem Singh, Jaswinder Singh, and Punit Kumar clinched the bronze medal in the men’s four rowing final at the Asian Games on Monday. Their tenacity and effort propelled them to the podium, adding another achievement to India’s growing medal tally at the Games.
The Indian quartet recorded a commendable time of 6 minutes and 10.81 seconds, securing the bronze medal. The gold medal was claimed by a formidable Chinese team, clocking in at 6 minutes and 10.04 seconds, while Uzbekistan exhibited their prowess by taking home the silver with an impressive timing of 6 minutes and 4.96 seconds.

This podium finish marks India’s fourth medal in the sport of rowing at the Asian Games, underscoring the country’s growing prominence in this discipline and the dedication of its athletes.

In a separate event, Indian rower Balraj Panwar put up a valiant effort in the final of the men’s single sculls event. Although he narrowly missed out on a medal, his performance was noteworthy. Balraj recorded a time of 7 minutes and 8.79 seconds, securing the fourth position.
The gold medal in the men’s single sculls event was secured by China’s Liang Zhang, who demonstrated exceptional prowess with a time of 6 minutes and 57.06 seconds. The silver medal went to Ryuta Arakawa, who clocked in at 6 minutes and 59.79 seconds, while the bronze was claimed by Hong Kong’s Chun Hin Chiu, with a time of 7 minutes and 0.55 seconds.
