Anushka Sharma’s Instagram post following her husband Virat Kohli’s epic 186-run knock in the Ahmedabad Test left fans worried. “Playing through sickness with this composure. Inspiring me always…,” Anushka wrote on her social media, revealing that the Indian star batter produced one of the best knocks of his career with a sickness.
When Axar Patel was asked to provide an update on Virat’s health, the spin all-rounder came up with an interesting reply. Notably, Virat and Axar stitched a 162-run stand on Day 4 to put India in a commanding position.
“I don’t know (if Kohli was not keeping well). The way he was running, it didn’t look like he was sick with the way he built that partnership, in this heat and the way he ran… It was good to have that stand with him,” Axar said.
Lower-order batter Axar Patel played a terrific 79-run knock and shared a solid 162-run partnership with Virat which helped India reach 571/10 in 178.5 overs in reply to Australia’s mammoth first innings total of 480/10 and end day 4’s play with an important 88-run lead. Axar Patel scored 264 runs at an average of 88.00 against Australia in five innings he batted in four-match IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is now the third-highest scorer in the ongoing series which ends tomorrow in Ahmedabad.
“I am feeling good to have contributed with the bat. I have had the confidence to go after ones that I can hit, the talk in the 1st Test is what I am following and I am gaining a bit of information about my ability with the bat. I had no set role (when asked if he was told to score quickly), just wanted to make as many runs as possible, bat along with the ball not doing a lot. One you are set, it is easier to bat, the odd ball is turning and staying low, it is slightly difficult when you’re new to the crease, but once you adjust, it’s still easy to bat on this wicket,” said Axar after the end of the day’s play.
