A shadow of cyber fraud has emerged on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inaguration ceremony. Malicious actors are targeting devotees through deceptive live-streaming links on WhatsApp, promising a glimpse of the sacred “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony.
The Ministry of Home Affairs’ cyber wing has issued a strong warning, urging everyone to be cautious of these fake links. They are designed to steal personal data, compromise mobile devices, and even empty bank accounts. Eagerness to witness the auspicious event should not cloud one’s judgment.
The cyber wing has identified numerous such links circulating on WhatsApp, each posing as a legitimate source for live coverage. Devotees are falling prey to these baits, only to face the consequences later. This scam is not the only one exploiting the fervor surrounding the Ram temple inauguration. Earlier, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust warned against:
* Fake VIP invitations circulating on WhatsApp.
* Questionable schemes offering “prasad” distribution.
To combat this digital menace, the cyber wing advises:
* Never click on unsolicited links, especially on social media.
* Only trust official channels and verified sources for information.
* Remain vigilant of deceptive promises like “exclusive access” to the event.
* Immediately report any suspicious links or encounters to the cyber helpline number 1930.
