Gaza: As Israel continued to bombard civilian areas despite the West and Europe repeatedly raising grave concerns over the soaring death toll, the frustration of US President Joe Biden has grown to the top-notch. According to a report by NBC News, Biden allegedly hurled “abusive” remarks against his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu during his private conversation. The report claimed that Biden calls Netanyahu an “as****e” as the latter repeatedly rejected the ceasefire offers which could have eased the tensions between the two neighbouring nations.
Citing “five people directly familiar with his comments,” the report said that Biden has expressed frustration to confidants, including campaign donors, over his “inability to persuade Israel to change its military tactics in Gaza.” “He just feels like this is enough,” one of the people said of the views expressed by Biden. “It has to stop.”
When NBC News asked about Biden’s private comments about Netanyahu, a spokesperson for the National Security Council said in a statement that the two leaders have a respectful relationship. “The president has been clear where he disagrees with Prime Minister Netanyahu, but this is a decades-long relationship that is respectful in public and in private,” the spokesperson said.
Israel continues to attack Rafah border regions
It is worth mentioning the war between Israel and Hamas has soared tremendously in recent days. In fact, in several instances, it has been reported that the Israeli Defence Forces attacked several densely populated regions. The recent attack on the Rafah border region killed over 60 people and some media reports even claim the death toll is above 100. The air strikes caused widespread panic in Rafah as many people were asleep when the strikes started, said residents contacted by Reuters using a chat app. Some feared Israel had begun its ground offensive into Rafah. This resulted in hospitals flooded with dead bodies.
