England winger Jadon Sancho said it felt like coming home after completing his loan move to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United.

Sancho, who was frozen out of Manchester United after he fell out with head coach, Erik ten Hag, has completed a loan move to Dortmund. The Dutch manager had criticized the 23-year-old for his performances and indiscipline during training.

Speaking after his move to Germany, Sancho said his move to Dortmund felt like coming home, adding that he knows the club inside out. Sancho had scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances for Dortmund prior to his move to England.

“When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’. I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge. I can’t wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl showered praise on Sancho, calling him a difference maker, adding that he expects him to settle in quickly with the team. Sancho last played a competitive match for Manchester United in August 2023.

“Jadon is an absolute difference player and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon. He knows this city, Signal Iduna Park, our fans and our club. Even though he hasn’t played any competitive games in the past few months, we are sure that he will quickly settle back in with us, get into top form and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season,” said Kelh.

Sancho was sold to Manchester United for GBP 73 million in 2021, and played 82 matches for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.
