Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last league match at home in IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 14). CSK did win the toss and elected to bat first on what looked like a tricky surface to bat on gauging from the first innings where most of the Chennai batters seemed to struggle barring one. All-rounder Shivam Dube, who had a great run in the season up until this match continued his good form and on a wicket where most other batters seemed to struggle, the southpaw made an unbeaten 48 off 34.
Dube also hit the most number of sixes by a Chennai batter. While Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja were the other CSK batters to have hit a six, managing one maximum apiece, Dube’s knock was studded with three sixes. One of those, which came off Suyash Sharma in the fifth ball of the 12th over, landed precisely where the KKR cheerleaders were present and hit one of them. A video of the incident has also surfaced on social media.

Talking about the match, riding on Dube’s knock along with contributions from Devon Conway (30 off 28), Ravindra Jadeja (20 off 24), Ruturaj Gaikwad (17 off 13) and Ajinkya Rahane (16 off 11), CSK posted 144/6 in their 20 overs which also happens to the team’s lowest total this season. However, this is a tricky surface where this plenty of assistance for the spinners.
With the Men in Yellow having a few quality spin bowling options in their ranks and a masterful captain at the helm of affairs, even this total can turn out to be enough. CSK would be eager to finish on a win and cement their place in the Playoffs. The team would also have a special lap of honour to thank their fans since this is their last home match of the league stage of the competition.
