Australia opener David Warner is still in the dark about the mystery surrounding how his Baggy Green caps were stolen from him and how he got it handed back to him during the SCG Test.

Ahead of the start of the third Test against Pakistan, which was his final match in the longest format of the game, Warner revealed that his Baggy Greens were stolen from him and came out with an emotional appeal to the public to help him find it.

Warner said his prized possessions went missing during a transit from Melbourne to Sydney in the lead-up to his farewell Test. Stressing that the public plea was his last resort, Warner said that he managed to check the CCTV footage of his team hotel and the airline QANTAS without much luck.

However, mid-way during the match, Warner was able to get back the Baggy Greens as he got the backpack containing them.

Cricket Australia later revealed that the bag was found outside at the team hotel. The opener commented on the matter during the post-match press conference. Warner, as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald, joked he wished he could play a prank like that.

The Aussie batter revealed he was still in the dark about the mystery surrounding the baggy greens as he was just handed the backpack in the end.

“You’re going to have to ask security. I wish I’d played a prank like that,” Warner said. “You’ll have to ask Frank [Dimasi] or Stu Bailey [security staff]. I literally got it handed to me and there was nothing [said to me]. That’s legitimate.”

Warner brought the curtains down on his Test career in fine fashion with a gritty 57 in his final innings to guide Australia home. Despite falling short of carrying his bat through the innings, Warner’s contribution helped seal a 3-0 series victory for Australia. His final knock was marked by a fairytale half-century, which he celebrated with a muted acknowledgment.
