Manoj Bajpayee once again proved his mettle with his portrayal in ZEE5’s film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. His nuanced portrayal of the character, coupled with his ability to effortlessly bring depth and authenticity to his roles, has struck a chord with the viewers. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the actor talked about various aspects of the film. In fact, he also, briefly, spoke about a few scenes and the climax of the film, which lead to the mention of his previous films Zubeidaa and Veer Zaara.

For the unversed, during the interview, Bajpayee was reminded of a scene from Bandaa, where his character was asked about the fees, and in the response, he only asked for the smile of the child, who was harassed. Later, Manoj was asked if there is any film from his filmography that he signed, not for the money but for the smile on his face.
After saying “yes” instantly, he took a few seconds before adding, “Zubeidaa. I have chosen it because of Shyam Benegal. I wanted to work with him. Veer Zaara. I have done it because Yash (Chopra) ji wanted me to be a part of it. There are many, I have done, not for money but for the pure experience of working on the set under those directors.”
For the unversed, Zubeidaa is a 2001 release, featuring Karisma Kapoor and Rekha besides Manoj. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. On the other hand, Veer-Zaara, starring Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan, was released in 2004.
