Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s romantic drama Aashiqui became a surprise hit of 1990. The film didn’t have big stars and it was, in fact, a launch for the both actor and actress in the form of Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. Yet, it went onto rule at the box office. The music of the film also played a big role in its success. Aashiqui made Rahul and Anu overnight stars.
EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Roy reveals, “I haven’t gone back to smoking for three years”
Around 30 years after that film, Rahul went through a lot of crisis after he suffered a brain stroke. Fortunately for him, he went onto recover and is now leading a much better life. Bollywood Hungama recently reported how superstar Salman Khan paid the medical bills for Rahul Roy.
In the same interview, the actor also spoke about his success in giving up the habit of smoking. While encouraging others to give up smoking, Rahul said, “You keep saying that you don’t want to smoke. But you will definitely need to do something (to quit smoking).”
When Rahul was asked whether he had any withdrawal symptoms when he quit smoking after his brain stroke episode, he said, “When I left (the habit of smoking), I haven’t gone back to it for three years,” he said.
The Aashiqui actor also said that right now he has no such habits. “The habit of alcohol had already gone. But now I literally don’t do anything,” he said.
