AB de Villiers has claimed that David Warner has been a fighter throughout his career and said he always found a way to make a comeback despite going through a lot of controversies.
Warner called time on his Test career following the conclusion of the third match of the series against Pakistan. The Australian opener had also announced his retirement from ODI cricket, with his last match being the final of the 2023 World Cup.
Warner was the highest run-getter for the Aussies during their tournament triumph in India.
Praises have been flowing in for Warner from all corners, with the latest being De Villiers. The former South African skipper, who played with Warner in the IPL for the Delhi Daredevils, said on his YouTube channel that Aussie opener was a fantastic player from the get-go and has put his hand up to be considered as one of the beste ever.
De Villiers also hailed Warner as a fighter who always found a way to make a comeback.
“I had played with David Warner at the Delhi Daredevils. He was a fantastic player right from the word go and he has put up his hand for one of the best all-round cricketers of all time. Went through a lot of controversies as well but always found a way to come back. He is a huge fighter.”
Warner shows his class in his final Test innings at the SCG
