Epic‘s new Fortnite OG Chapter 1 season essentially revives the original Battle Royale mode as it was six years ago. It’s almost like players are opening up a time capsule and jumping into Fortnite’s debut year.
With Fortnite’s latest season that takes players on a nostalgic trip back to the past, Fortnite has broken its player record with 44.7 million players playing the game in a single day.
The announcement was made by the developer via Twitter, stating that on November 4, 2023, the game had a total of 44.7 million players and 102 million hours of gameplay. This news follows the previous announcement that the game had over 5 million concurrent players on November 3.
“We’re blown away by the response to #FortniteOG. Yesterday was the biggest day in Fortnite’s history with over 44.7 MILLION players jumping in and 102 MILLION hours of play. To all Fortnite players, OG and new, THANK YOU!,” posted Fortnite on X (formerly Twitter).
Over 44.7 million players played Fortnite on November 4, making it the biggest day in Fortnite’s history. Additionally, gamers played 102 million hours worth of Battle Royale action.
Epic recently said that it has been monitoring its servers due to the high demand and warned players to expect queues before joining a match.
The game is currently in its fourth chapter, split into shorter seasons. Every new season brings new features and changes to the game, including the return of fan-favourite locations and weapons in the latest season, Fortnite OG. However, the game mechanics from the later seasons will be retained. Challenges, a scavenger hunt-style feature from the old-school Fortnite, won’t return for now, despite being a popular feature that boosted player numbers.
