Google Chrome removes this important feature for Android users – Times of India

Google Chrome comes with a lot of features — some handy, some gimmicky and some less useful ones. One such feature allowed Android users to link their phone with Chrome and make calls using their phone by simply clicking on a phone number from the web.
Chrome Click to call is gone now
Chrome used to offer a Click to call feature. However, it suddenly disappeared from the Chrome 113 update and Google hid it under a flag setting in the last couple of versions. Now, with the Chrome 116 update, Click to call has been removed from Chrome’s flag settings as well. Several Chrome users are now asking Google to bring back this feature.
There’s no alternative
Now that the feature has been removed from Chrome, users now have no way to just click on a number on the web and dial it from the phone automatically. Google hasn’t offered a legit alternative to this feature irrespective of the fact that the ecosystem has now become better than it used to be.
If you are a Windows user, pairing the phone with Phone Link app or Intel Unison bring almost similar functionality and allows users to not only call on the number from the phone, but also talk from the laptop itself without even touching the phone. And, this is not only limited to Android phones. iOS devices can also be paired using these two apps to get the similar functionality.
If you were the user of Chrome’s Click to call feature then you can simply pair your Android phone with Phone Link or Unison app.
To do this, Open Phone Link on Windows laptop or PC, download the same app on your phone. Follow the pairing instructions to pair. Enable calling and start making and receiving calls and messages right on the PC’s screen.
