NEW DELHI: Lekh Ram and Babu Lal Yadav added to India’s medal tally at the ongoing Asian Games, clinching a bronze medal in the Men’s Pair Final on Sunday. This achievement marked India’s third medal in the competition and their second in the sport of rowing.
In the Men’s Pair Final, the Indian duo finished in third place with a time of 6 minutes and 50.41 seconds.They faced stiff competition from Hong Kong and Uzbekistan, who secured the first and second positions, respectively.

The race saw Hong Kong, China take the lead, closely followed by Uzbekistan and India. As the competitors approached the 1500-metre mark, the three nations were neck and neck in a fierce battle for the gold medal. However, China managed to surge ahead in the final stretch, securing the top spot on the podium with a comfortable victory.

Earlier in the day, India had already secured a silver medal in the Asian Games when Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh finished just behind China in the final of the men’s rowing lightweight double sculls. The Indian duo, representing the Army, displayed remarkable performance, clocking a time of 6 minutes and 28.18 seconds in Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls Final A.

The Chinese pair of Fan Junjie and Sun Man claimed the gold medal by recording a time of 6 minutes and 23.16 seconds. China’s victory marked their second gold in the Asian Games, while Uzbekistan settled for the bronze with a time of 6 minutes and 33.42 seconds.

Throughout the competition, the Indian pair of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh gave the hosts a tough challenge, staying close behind the leaders throughout the race. However, China managed to pull away in the final 500 metres, building a significant lead of 2.73 seconds.
With these performances, India has now won two silver medals and a bronze medal at the Asian Games, showcasing their growing prowess in various sporting disciplines.
