Drishyam and Drishyam 2 (2015 and 2022):

This one is perhaps one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood. In the first film released in 2015, Ajay Devgn’s character Vijay Salgaonkar saves his daughter (Ishita Dutta) from getting caught by the police after she accidentally kills a guy who was about to rape her and her mother. He does the same in Drishyam 2 (2022) too when the case is re-opened. Both the films were remakes of Malayalam films of the same name where the protagonist had cerebral fights with his opponents.

Shivaay (2016):

Directed by Ajay Devgn himself, the movie sees his character Shivaay visit Bulgaria to meet his estranged lover Olga (Erika Kaar) with their daughter Gaura (Abigail Eames). However, once they reach there, Gaura gets kidnapped by a child trafficking gang. Shivaay takes it upon himself to rescue her before it’s too late while fighting various evil forces.

Bholaa (2023):

This is another action thriller directed by Ajay Devgn himself. It was an official Hindi remake of the hit and acclaimed Tamil film Kaithi (2019). It saw Devgn play an ex-convict Bholaa who is just out of prison after spending 10 years inside. He is eager to meet his daughter for the first time, but he agrees to help a group of cops in an unusual mission. He fights various odds and baddies in order to be with his daughter.

Shaitaan (2024):

While the other films in the list fall in the action genre, Vikas Bahl’s Shaitaan is a supernatural saga with black magic as its base. The film saw R Madhavan’s character play an occult specialist who performs black magic on Ajay Devgn’s teenaged daughter (Janki Bodiwala). This is yet another occasion where Devgn’s character had to fight mind games with an evil force. The film became a runaway success at the box office.
