After dominating the first two games, Nida Dar‘s side aimed to etch their names in the history books by completing a whitewash in the third and final T20I.
Despite New Zealand winning the toss and opting to field, Pakistan made a positive start, putting up 64 runs for the first wicket. However, the White Ferns, led by stand-in captain Amelia Kerr in the absence of regular skipper Devine, fought back with Eden Carson (2/20) and Kerr (3/11) leading the bowling attack. Pakistan was ultimately restricted to a total of 137/5.
In response, solid performances from Bates (51* from 42) and Kerr (35 from 31) kept New Zealand on track to chase down the target. Rain interrupted the game with New Zealand six runs ahead of Pakistan on the DLS method at that point.
The standout performer for Pakistan throughout the series was Fatima Sana, who claimed the Player of the Series award for her impactful six-wicket haul. Wicketkeeper batter Muneeba Ali, along with all-rounders Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz, drew attention for their contributions to Pakistan’s historic success.
Looking ahead, the two teams will engage in a three-match ODI series, which forms part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship cycle. The first ODI is scheduled for December 12 in Queenstown, followed by matches on December 15 and December 18 in Christchurch.
Pakistan’s women’s team will carry the momentum from their T20I triumph into the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.
