ICC World Test Championship 2023-25: India have asserted their authority and dominance over the ongoing International Cricket Council’s (ICC) World Test Championship 2023-25, as the Rohit Sharma-led side are on top of the table and have solidified their position with a thumping series win over England. The Indian side won the series 4-1 and have now accumulated 74 points, and with a hectic 2024 season which involves the IPL, T20 World Cup, and the other competitions, it’s pretty much evident that other teams don’t have much matches left to dethrone India from top 2 and a hat-trick of WTC Finals is on the line for team India.
Here is the updated table of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings:
S. No. | Team | Series | Played | Won | Lost | Draw | Points | Points Percentage |
1 | India | 3 | 9 | 6 | 2 | 1 | 74 | 68.51 |
2 | New Zealand | 3* | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 36 | 60 |
3 | Australia | 4* | 11 | 7 | 3 | 1 | 78 | 59.09 |
4 | Bangladesh | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 12 | 50 |
5 | Pakistan | 2 | 5 | 2 | 3 | 0 | 22 | 36.66 |
6 | West Indies | 2 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 16 | 33.33 |
7 | South Africa | 2 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 0 | 12 | 25 |
8 | England | 2 | 10 | 3 | 6 | 1 | 21 | 17.5 |
9 | Sri Lanka | 1 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
The road to final is all but over for the English side as a dismal tour to India has come to an end and England will be feeling really lucky that they won atleast one match, as Ollie Pope’s heroic 196 saved the day for Ben Stokes’ side in the first Test, else it would’ve been a whitewash.
Now with the conclusion of India Vs England series, only one Test series remain active before the start of Indian Premier League 2024, which is Australia’s tour of New Zealand, in which the Trans-Tasman rivlas are battling it out in the second Test. Australia are currently leading the Test series 1-0 and are in a solid position to win the second Test match and clinch the series 2-0.
New Zealand are 134/2 in their second innings and lead Australia just by 40 runs, and anything less than 300 will be suitable for Australia, as the pitch doesn’t promise to be anti-batting friendly in the fourth innings.
With the current state of all the 9 sides in the current WTC, it is looking like a yet-another final between India and Australia, as both sides are playing fearless cricket and are dominating oppositions with ease.
