India beat Afghanistan via double Super Over to complete a 3-0 series sweep in the 3-match T20I series in Bengaluru on Wednesday. After the scores were tied with both teams at 212, Rohit Sharma smashed two sixes in the first Super Over that ended in a tie. Then Ravi Bishnoi defended 12 runs in the second Super Over to help India complete the series sweep.

Chasing 212, Afghanistan needed 36 off the final 2 overs and 19 off the last over, but Gulbadin Naib’s heroics with the bat meant the match went to a Super Over. Afghanistan collected 17 runs off Avesh Khan’s 19th over and 18 off Mukesh Kumar’s final over.

Gulbadin Naib and Gurbaz came out to face Mukesh Kumar in the Super Over. Naib got run out for just one but Mohammed Nabi hit a six, Gurbaz hit a four and Afghanistan got three controversial byes to finish with 16 off their Super Over.

IND vs AFG, 3rd T20I Highlights

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with an unbeaten knock of 121 runs, his highest score in the T20I format. His innings was decorated with 11 fours and eight sixes, showcasing his dominance over the Afghan bowlers.

Rohit found an able partner in Rinku Singh, who played a sensational innings of 69 not out off just 39 balls, including two fours and six sixes. Together, they stitched a massive 190-run partnership, rescuing India from a precarious position of 22/4. Their combined efforts propelled India to a formidable total of 212/4.

Afghanistan’s chase was spirited, with Mohammad Nabi’s quickfire 33 off 12 balls and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s half-century providing some resistance. However, the Indian bowlers managed to tighten their grip on the game, with Washington Sundar and others keeping the Afghan batsmen in check.

Despite some aggressive batting, Afghanistan could not keep up with the escalating required run rate, eventually falling short of the target. India’s biggest win in T20I by runs remains a 168-run triumph at Ahmedabad, but this victory was nonetheless impressive, underlining their dominance in the shortest format of the game. The Indian team’s performance was a testament to their depth and resilience, bouncing back strongly after losing early wickets to post a challenging total and then defending it with confidence.
