IND vs AFG, 3rd T20I Highlights
India survived a scare from Afghanistan in Bengaluru to clean-sweep the three-match T20I series 3-0. India posted 212 for 4 in the first innings on the back of a 190-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh with the India captain smashing a record-breaking fifth T20I hundred.
Afghanistan then levelled the score with half-centuries from Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Gulbadin Naib. The two side scored 16 runs each in the first Super Over. However, India clinched the match after scoring 11 in the second Super Over and bowling the visitors out for just 1 run.
Speaking after the match, Zadran said he is focused on the positives from the series , adding that this experience will help the team in 2024 T20 World Cup. Afghanistan has been placed alongside New Zealand, West Indies, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea in Group C in the T20 World Cup.
“We are happy with the overall performance. We played good cricket. Unfortunately, we lost in the Super Over. We got lots of positives from this series and this experience will help us in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” said Zadran.
He went on to say that they have never played this well against a big team like India. Afghanistan improved through the course of the three-match series, pushing the world number 1 T20I side to the absolute limit in Bengaluru.
“The boys gave their best in these 3 games. We never played this kind of cricket in T20, especially against a big team like India and in batting department as well. Really happy. We will take some positives from this series and focus on improving a little bit in the T20 World Cup,” Zadran added.
The 2024 T20 World Cup will be held in the West Indies and USA with 20 teams participating in the marquee tournament that will begin on June 1.
