Star India batter Virat Kohli was snapped at the Mumbai Airport as he left for Indore to join the Indian team ahead of the second T20I against Afghanistan. Kohli was spotted making a stylish entry in his luxurious Mercedes car at the airport as he left for Indore to join Team India.

Kohli missed out on the 1st T20I match for personal reasons, but he will be available for the last two T20Is of the three-match series. India will be playing the 2nd T20I match at the Holkar Stadium, Indore after registering a comfortable six-wicket win over Afghanistan in the Mohali T20I.

Kohli made a return to India’s T20I squad after a 14-month hiatus. His last appearance for India in the shortest format of the game was on November 10, in the semi-final loss to England in T20 World Cup 2022.

Kohli is the leading run-scorer in T20I with 4008 runs to his name in 115 matches and has scored a century and 37 fifties in the shortest format for India. Virat Kohli’s career-best T20I score of 122 in T20Is also came against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup match in September 2022. Kohli will look to continue his stellar form from 2023.

Notably, the star batter was the top-run scorer in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 765 runs in 11 innings. He was the top-scorer for India in the recently concluded Test series in South Africa where he scored 172 runs in 2 matches to help India draw the series 1-1. Kohli will be raring to make a memorable comeback in the shortest format of the game for India. He is just 35 runs short of completing 12000 T20 runs.

In Kohli’s absence from the 1st T20I match on January 11, Thursday, Tilak Varma played at No. 3 position and could score only 26 runs in 22 balls at a worrying strike rate of 118.18. Experts like Aakash Chopra reckoned that Tilak may be dropped to make way for Kohli. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was ruled out of the series opener due to a groin injury, is also expected to open along with skipper Rohit Sharma.
