India vs England 5th Test, Dharamsala: After a long 10-day gap, India and England are poised to face off in the fifth and final Test of the ongoing five-match India vs England series in Dharamsala starting March 7 (Thursday). Despite a setback in the first IND vs ENG Test in Hyderabad, India, captained by Rohit Sharma, have secured the series with a commanding 3-1 lead. Meanwhile, England, led by Ben Stokes, have been unable to replicate their previous series successes and are facing their first series loss under Stokes’ leadership.

While the 5th IND vs ENG Test may be considered a dead rubber in terms of the series outcome, it holds significance as World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points are still up for grabs. Additionally, it marks the 100th Test for both Ravichandran Ashwin and Jonny Bairstow, adding a special milestone to the match. Beyond statistical milestones, players from both teams have individual points to prove, making the contest relevant and compelling despite the series already being decided.

Rajat Patidar, despite boasting a first-class average in the mid-40s, has struggled to perform up to expectations in the three Tests thus far. He will be eager to finish the series on a positive note and showcase his abilities at the international level. On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow has shown glimpses of promise but has failed to capitalise on his starts.

Following his rest in the previous game, Bumrah is set to make a comeback to the playing XI for the fifth IND vs ENG Test. Akash Deep showcased an impressive and fiery spell on Day one in Ranchi. Despite the pitch offering minimal assistance, Akash effectively utilised whatever moisture was available, creating trouble for the English batters with his adept seam positions. As a result, he stands as a strong contender to retain his place in the team, potentially replacing Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI.

India predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khah, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep

England confirmed XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (C), Ben Foakes (WK), Tom Hartley, Mark Wood, Shoaib Bashir, James Anderson.
