Team India will square off against West Indies in an away all-format tour starting next month. Let us have a look at five Indian players who are most likely to make their India debut during India’s tour of West Indies.
Yashasvi Jasiwal: The 21-year-old uncapped star might make his India Test debut and T20I debut during the Carraibean tour. Jasiwal scored 625 runs in IPL 2023, most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season.
Mukesh Sharma: The Bengal pacer was one of the three reserve pacers in India’s WTC 2023 Final squad. He was part of India’s squad for South Africa series last year and was also picked for IND vs SL and IND vs NZ series, earlier this year but didn’t get to play a single game. Mukesh has a great chance of making his Test debut during the Windies tour.
Rinku Singh: The hard-hitting batter is widely considered as one of the best finishers in T20 cricket in this generation, ever since he pulled off one of the biggest heists in the history of IPL — hitting five sixes off last five balls to secure a memorable win for KKR in an IPL 2023 fixture against GT. Rinku might get a chance to make both ODI and T20 debut for India during the Windies tour.
Jitesh Sharma: After his outstanding performance in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Punjab Kings’ keeper was selected in India’s T20 team for home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January 2023 but didn’t get to play a single game. Jitesh might get a chance to make in T20 International debut for India during IND vs WI five-match T20 series, next month.
Sarfaraz Khan: There was a huge uproar on social media after Sarfaraz Khan was ignored by the selectors for the Indian team for 2021-23 cycle of World Test Championship. Despite scoring plenty in the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz is yet to receive a call-up in the India Test team and remains to be a ‘future plan’. However, this might change very soon as the talented batter in all likelihood will make his debut for team India during IND vs WI two-match Test series, starting from July 12.
