Ind vs WI: Yuzvendra Chahal On Verge Of Becoming 1st Indian Bowler To Attain THIS Milestone

Dynamic Yuzvendra Chahal is one of team India’s most successful bowlers in limited overs cricket. Despite this, the senior leg-spinner often gets ignored by the selectors for major tournaments and series. In his latest outing for the national team, Chahal took two wickets in a single over during first match of the five-match T20 International series between West Indies and India. Sadly, the visitors had to face defeat by four runs in the tense T20I series opener. By virtue of these two wickets, Chahal took his career’s wicket tally in T20 Internationals to 93.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old is nearing an elusive feat in the shortest format of the game. Yuzvendra Chahal, the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 Internationals, is just 7 wickets away from completing 100 wickets in this format, and if he manages to do so, he will become the first Indian bowler to reach this figure.

If Chahal completes 100-wickets milestone in India vs West Indies T20 International series, he will surpass records set by Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Mark Adair and Shahid Afridi and bag a spot among T20 cricket’s elite bowlers. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, with 140 wickets, is currently the all-time highest wicket-taker in T20Is, followed by New Zealand’s Tim Southee (134 wickets) and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (130 wickets).

Senior India seam bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals after Yuzvendra Chahal. Bhuvi has so far completed 90 T20 International wickets. After Bhuvneshwar, Ashwin at number three has so far bagged 72 wickets in the shortest format.

Jasprit Bumrah is at number four. The lethal Indian pacer has been away from cricket for the last few months due to his back issues. In what comes as a huge boost for the national team ahead of Asia Cup 2023 and mainly ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, Bumrah is all set to make his comeback with India’s tour of Ireland. So far in his T20I career, he has taken 90 T20 International wickets. Hardik Pandya at number five has 70 wickets.
