World leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Monday, extended best wishes to his Indian counterpart Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India celebrates its 77th Independence Day. 


In a statement released by the Government of Russia, it praised New Delhi’s success in the field of economics, scientific, technical and other fields. It hailed India’s stance on global issues and asserted the world’s largest democracy enjoys well-earned respect in the world arena.

“Your country has achieved universally acknowledged success in economic, scientific and technical, social and other fields. India enjoys well-earned respect in the world arena and plays an important constructive role in international affairs,” read the statement.

France says India can call Paris the most trusted partner

Meanwhile, French President, Emmanuel Macron, reshared a month-old post on Twitter when PM Modi visited Paris and extended warm wishes to India on its special occasion. Taking to social media, he said India can count France in the list of “most trusted allies”. Notably, India and France have been sharing deep bonds, especially New Delhi, which has purchased billions of dollars of defence equipment.

“Hearty congratulations to the people of India on Independence Day. A month ago in Paris, my friend @narendramodi and I set new Indo-French ambitions for 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence. India can count on France as a reliable friend and partner, always,” he wrote.

Nepal PM hopes India achieves progress and prosperity

Besides, the neighbouring nation, Nepal, which shares deep-rooted cultural ties with India, also shared a special message on India’s historical day. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal took to social media and said that the relations between both nations always remain peaceful and filled with prosperity.

“On the auspicious occasion of the 77th Independence Day of India, I extend warm greetings and best wishes to PM @narendramodi ji and to the friendly people of India for continued peace, progress and prosperity @PMOIndia,” he said.

US extends greetings on India’s Independence Day 

Meanwhile, the US State Secretary, in a statement released on August 14, extended the warmest wishes to Indian citizens on their Independence Day. 

“On this momentous day, we reflect on the depth and breadth of our strategic partnership, and we celebrate the proud history of the Indian people, who are the key to the bright future we are building together”, read the press release issued by Secretary Antony Blinken’s office.
