NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli‘s match-winning 95-run knock against New Zealand in the World Cup match left the social media abuzz as netizens started drawing parallels with a century and saying 95 is bigger than any hundred as it came in the winning cause.
Kohli came tantalisingly close to equalling the record for the most ODI centuries, currently held by his compatriot Sachin Tendulkarat 49.In a bid to secure the record, he attempted a six but was caught just near the boundary.In a highly anticipated clash between the only two undefeated teams at the World Cup on Sunday, India successfully pursued the target of 274 runs to defeat New Zealand – their first victory against Kiwis in any ICC tournament match since 2003.
India secured victory with four wickets in hand, reaching their goal with 12 balls to spare in Dharamsala, concluding their innings at 274 for the loss of six wickets.

Kohli found himself in a similar situation as the last match against Bangladesh where the equation of team requiring target and him needing to get to the three-figures were the same.
While approaching his 48th hundred, Kohli declined some singles that led to some critics to accuse him of favouring his individual milestone at the expense of the team’s requirements.
Following India’s fifth consecutive victory, people took to X handles to shower accolades on Kohli for his significant innings, emphasising that it held greater value than a mere century.
