The England Cricket Team has significantly revolutionised Test cricket with their creative approach, Bazball. This style of play, developed by Coach Brendon ‘Baz’ McCullum and led by Captain Ben Stokes, intends to amuse spectators while bringing about a dramatic change in how red-ball cricket is viewed and played across the world.

England showed off their talent with Bazball during the last World Test Championship cycle, producing impressive success. Their strategy remained the same when the new WTC 2023–2025 cycle got underway, as seen by the way they rallied to win the third Test of the Ashes 2023 series.

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, if the fourth Test of Ashes would not have come to a draw, the match would have gone in England’s favour as well.

Not to be outdone, India seems to have created its own version of Bazball, which former India opener Aakash Chopra has dubbed “Jam-ball” in honour of Coach Rahul “Jam” Dravid because his father Sharad Dravid worked as general manager at the renowned jam-making firm Kissan, Dravid was known as “Jam” before he earned the moniker “The Wall” for his tenacious style of play.

In the second innings against the West Indies in Trinidad on Sunday, India became the quickest side to achieve 100 runs in Test cricket, doing so in only 12.2 overs.

As India’s first four batters, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill form a strong batting order for the team, it’s also inevitable that their IPL knowledge would be applied at Queen’s Park Oval.
