The new iPhones will soon hit the stores as Apple gears up for its annual September event, ” Wonderlust, ” announcing the iPhone 15 series. As usual, there are expected to be four new iPhone models – the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max – and while the vanilla models may carry the same price tag as last year, the Pro models are expected to be a tad pricier this year. And the change comes at a time when Apple is expected to sell fewer iPhones, so the price increase could weather the low forecast.
The big changes in iPhone 15 Pro models
As for one, the two Pro iPhones – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max – are expected to have a titanium frame this year, which should offer better rigidity and a much premium feel than the vanilla iPhones, which would again have an aluminium frame.
The other big change could be a newer chip for the iPhone 15 Pro models, while the vanilla models might come with last year’s A16 Bionic, which powered the iPhone 14 Pro models. While the A17 Bionic would offer improved performance, it should also offer better efficiency, thus longer battery life for the Pro users.
While all four iPhones are expected to have a USB-C port this year, the Pro models would offer faster data transfer speeds than the vanilla models. Again, the vanilla iPhones are said to have Dynamic Island, but the Pro models would feature better screens with thinner bezels. And the Pro models could also bring one big feature – the Action Button – which would let users do a thing with a click of button, which would be in the same position as the mute switch.
The Pro models have had telephoto lenses for years, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max could bring a periscope lens this year, offering up to twice as zoom as its predecessor, from 3x to 6x.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reiterates the price increase in the latest edition of his newsletter and suggests that these differences between the vanilla and Pro models could justify the extra cost for buyers. And this could bring in extra revenue for Apple, even if the unit sales remain the same, as it plans to push buyers toward more expensive offerings.
How much might the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max cost
If rumours are believed, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus should start at the same price as last year, $799 and $899, respectively. However, there could be around a $100 to $200 increase in the prices of iPhone 15 Pro models. Rumours have it that the iPhone 15 Pro would start at $1,099, $100 more than what the iPhone 14 Pro was launched last year. Then, the iPhone 14 Pro Max could cost as much as $1,199, or there could be a further price increase of $200, according to some rumours.
Not just the iPhones but Apple will continue the trend of pushing customers towards more expensive accessories. The pricier Ultra version will offer a titanium case, a larger screen, and longer battery life. Those who want AirPods with USB-C charging support will have to choose the costlier model, at least for now.
