Recently, itwas reported that Apple has shelved its next-generation iPhone SE. Now a new online report has surfaced revealing the likely launch details of the iPhone SE 4.
According to a report by MacRumours, Apple may launch the iPhone SE 4 in 2025 with Apple’s own custom-designed 5G modem. Citing analyst Jeff Pu, the report adds that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 may feature the Apple 5G modem which will be manufactured by TSMC. The report further adds that the tech giant may launch the iPhone SE 4 in 2025.
Although the cancellation would have been a major relief for Qualcomm, Apple appears prepared for the transition, with the iPhone SE 4 likely being the starting point. This information was shared by Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon during an interview.
The 5G baseband chip of Apple will be produced on the 4nm process node, which will be similar to the 5nm. However, there is a catch. The 5G modem inside the iPhone SE 4 will only support the sub-6GHz network.
Apple launched the present iPhone SE in March 2022 which features a Qualcomm Snapdragon X57 chip for sub-6Ghz 5G. The smartphone sports a 4.7-inch display with a Home button and Touch ID. It is expected that the company will include the Face ID functionality in the upcoming model.
Apple released iOS 16.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5 updates recently
Meanwhile, Apple recently released the iOS 16.4 update for iPhones. Now the tech giant has started rolling out iOS 16.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5 updates for the older iPhone and iPad models.
The company claims that the latest update has addressed two vulnerabilities which may have been exploited. However, Apple has not revealed any details about the vulnerabilities. “For our customers’ protection, Apple doesn’t disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available”, said Apple.
The two fixes mentioned on Apple’s security content page are identical to the ones that were resolved in iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1 the previous week. These fixes are only available to specific devices, namely the iPhone 6s (all models), iPhone 7 (all models), iPhone SE (1st generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (4th generation), and iPod touch (7th generation).
