iPhone SE has looked the same for about two generations now, donning the design same as the iPhone 8. But a new look is on the cards for the upcoming iPhone SE. If rumours are to be believed, it could look much more modern than its predecessors.
The next-generation of iPhone SE could have a similar design to that of iPhone 14, reports MacRumors. So, the upcoming iPhone SE could have a design in-line with newer iPhones, and have a bigger display compared to the last models.
iPhone SE 4 to ditch Touch ID for Face ID
According to the report, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will have a modified version of the current iPhone 14 chassis with a flat design. The dimensions of the iPhone SE 4 match those of the base model iPhone 14. The fourth-generation iPhone SE will have an all-screen design – similar to the iPhone 14 – with Face ID as the means of biometric identification, and there will be no Touch ID home button.
The next iPhone SE could also get a camera upgrade
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to weigh 165 grams, 6 grams lighter than the iPhone 14, which is likely due to its single-camera design. The iPhone SE 4 will feature a single 48MP rear camera, and the flash will be located in a similar position as previous models. Apple‘s internal documentation highlights the single-camera design as a key change from the iPhone 14.
iPhone SE 4 might get these iPhone 15 series features
The iPhone SE 4 will use the same materials as the iPhone 14, including 6013 T6 aluminium and a glass backplate. Prototypes of the iPhone SE 4 have been seen in a black colour similar to the Midnight colour variant available for the iPhone 14, suggesting that black will be one of the colour options.
The iPhone SE 4 will differ from previous iPhone models with two significant features – a multi-purpose Action button, and a USB-C port. These two features have been introduced with the current lineup of iPhone 15 models, but the Action button has been limited to the Pro models.
The current development status of the iPhone SE 4 suggests a potential release date of 2025.
