Bengaluru: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will not wear their usual jerseys in their Indian Premier League (IPL) face-off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M Chinnswamy Stadium on Sunday (April 23). In this afternoo fixture, the Faf du Plessis-led side are all set to wear special green jerseys which will be made from recycled waste of the stadium.

Notably, this will not be the first time that the franchise will be sporting these green jerseys. Each year since 2011, the team dons this jersey as part of a “go green” initiative in one of their home matches. The goal of this enterprise is also to spread awareness for the need for a cleaner and a greener environment which we inhabit collectively.

Other than the wearing of these special jerseys, this year’s mission for RCB will also see them try and restroe two lakes in the city of Bengaluru, their home. These lakes reportedly cover an area of 44 acres. In addition, the franchise is keen on getting close to 200 schools witness the Green School certification.

“As part of our year-long commitment, we will enable and encourage sustainability for the people, of the people, and by the people through a unique fan-driven model of carbon neutrality and rejuvenating and restoring the city lakes which were once the pride of Bangalore city,” said Rajesh Menon, VP & Head of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

As far as the current status of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 are concerned, the team has played 6 matches so far and have won 3 matches and lost the remaining three. They will be taking on Rajasthan who are on top of the points table as far as of now with eight points from six matches and a net run rate of +1.043.

However, in their most recent fixtures, the results have been contrasting. While Bangalore are fresh off a win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 10 runs.
