Hardik Pandya’s Appointment As MI Skipper
Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2024 was marked by a remarkable change in his role, as he took over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma. His sensational comeback to MI came through a trade before the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
During Rohit Sharma’s tenure as skipper of Mumbai Indians (MI), the franchise achieved remarkable success, clinching the coveted trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Rohit led MI in a total of 158 matches, with the team securing victory in 87 contests while facing defeat in 67 matches.
Interestingly, in the upcoming T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma will take on the role of captain for the Men in Blue, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This dynamic marks a reversal of roles from their positions in the IPL 2024, where Rohit will play under Hardik Pandya’s leadership for Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians are set to commence their IPL 2024 journey with an away game against Gujarat Titans on March 24. Following this, they will travel to Hyderabad for their second match scheduled for March 27.
Mumbai Indians will host their first home game against Rajasthan Royals on April 1. Subsequently, they will face off against Delhi Capitals in their next home fixture on April 7. Despite the General Elections, the entirety of IPL 2024 will be played in India, promising an uninterrupted season of thrilling cricket action.
