IPL 2024 Orange Cap, Purple Cap holders: Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 7 wickets (19 balls remaining) to register their second consecutive win in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. RCB lost the match but their star player Virat Kohli batted out the entire first innings, remaining not out. The RCB legend secured his second straight IPL fifty on Friday (March 29) but Kolkata still clinched the seven-wicket win.
Batting first, RCB had set a target of 183 runs for Kolkata. Openers Sunil Narayan and Phil Salt stitched a solid partnership of 86 runs for the first wicket. After this, Venkatesh played a crucial 50-run knock. KKR chased down the target with 19 balls remaining to win the game by 7 wickets.
RCB’s loss against Kolkata on Friday was their second loss in the ongoing tournament. So far, RCB have played three games, won one and lost two.
