NEW DELHI: In the middle of Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s challenging start to the IPL season, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has shed light on the infectious energy of star batter Virat Kohli, likening his demeanour on the field to that of a child at play.
Speaking on ESPN’s Around the Wicket program, Maxwell revealed, “He is like a kid in the field. It is so funny watching him bounce around. I have to sort of remind him to act his age every now and then because he is making me look bad as we are from the same age group. It is not going well if I am telling you that.”

Despite RCB grappling with losses in three out of four matches, Kohli has emerged as a shining beacon of consistency, leading from the front with an impressive tally of 203 runs in four matches at an average of 67.67, earning him the coveted Orange Cap for the season’s highest run-scorer.

Maxwell, on the other hand, has faced a personal struggle, amassing just 31 runs in four innings at an average of 7.75, alongside picking up four wickets.

Reflecting on Kohli’s contribution amidst the team’s challenges, Maxwell added, “He has been brilliant coming back into the group, and you can see him bounce around. He is pretty excited to be around the RCB boys and just be around the guys, playing well again, running around the field.”
