Filmmaker Karan Johar has showered praises on actor Vicky Kaushal’s performance in the upcoming biopic Sam Bahadur. Johar, who attended a special screening of the film earlier this week, took to his Instagram stories to express his admiration for Kaushal’s portrayal of the legendary war hero Sam Manekshaw.

“He is Sam Bahadur and he is absolute master of his craft,” Johar wrote in his Instagram story. “Vicky Kaushal embodies the legend like a bonafide veteran with genius ease!”
Johar further lauded Kaushal’s ability to capture the essence of Manekshaw through his body language, tonal shifts, and overall demeanour. “From body language to tonal shifts, his is an outstanding portrayal!” Johar declared. “Salute to his performance! Big chops to Ronnie and team RSVP movies for making this polished product and taking a leap as content creators.”
Johar also extended his appreciation to filmmaker Meghna Gulzar for her meticulous direction of the film. “My dearest Meghna Gulzar is on top of her game and committed to telling the story with researched precision and ultimate conviction!” Johar wrote. “Biggest hug to her! My love to the entire cast and crew.”
Speaking of the film, Sam Bahadur also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. It marks Kaushal’s second collaboration with Gulzar after their critically acclaimed 2018 film Raazi. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 16, 2023, and is expected to be a major contender at the box office.
