Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will not be wearing their traditional jerseys in their Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday (April 14). The KL Rahul-led team will instead be wearing a green and maroon jersey inspired by the Indian football giants Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
It is pertinent to note that both the cricket team and the football club are owned by Sanjiv Goenka. While LSG are based at the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Mohun Bagan have their base in Kolkata which is the reason LSG will be wearing Mohun Bagan’s colours in the Kolkata fixture. However, this is not the first time that KL Rahul-led side will be featuring in a green-maroon jersey. Even in the last season of the competition, LSG had worn Mohun Bagan’s colours against KKR.
The news was confirmed by the franchise through an official announcement on social media.
New colours for a big game! 💚♥️
