Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hinted that Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw are all in line to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday, January 14.

Manchester United has faced a challenging season with a spate of injuries hampering their squad depth and performance. Key players have been sidelined, affecting the team’s dynamics and results. Casemiro, the Brazilian midfielder, has been out for over two months due to a hamstring injury sustained in November during a Carabao Cup match against Newcastle United. His absence has been keenly felt in the midfield, where his defensive prowess and experience are crucial.

Lisandro Martinez, another vital cog in United’s defense, has been dealing with a foot injury since September, which he picked up in a Champions League game against Bayern Munich. The Argentine’s tenacity and defensive acumen have been missed at the back, leaving a gap that has been difficult to fill.

Luke Shaw, the left-back, has also been on the treatment table after missing three games. However, there is optimism within the club as manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that Shaw, along with Casemiro and Martinez, has returned to training and could be available for the upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to the reporters, as quoted by Reuters, Ten Hag said that there is more choices in the squad at the moment ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

“It is positive they are back on the training ground and they will go back to the team and then to 100% match fitness,” Ten Hag told reporters.

“We have more choice in this moment in the squad to put out a starting 11 and create a bench that is stronger.

“(Christian) Eriksen will return, Antony will return, Amad Diallo will return.”

Martial remains on the sidelines: Ten Hag

Ten Hag would go to confirm that Anthony Martial is still on the sidelines as he is unfit. The French forward has been out for more almost a month with an undisclosed illness.

“We want the players to be fit and in this moment he is not,” Ten Hag said. “We have to make him fit, it’s his job as well.”
