Meta employees’ ‘Mate’
As per a report by The Verge, Metamate is deployed to answer employees’ queries and perform other tasks. The AI chatbot will utilise the company data to help employees summarise meetings, write code and debug features.
Employees will also be able to create their own prompts and share them with colleagues. The publication also claimed that the company is starting to roll it out to a small group now.
It was previously claimed that Meta was talking to Microsoft and OpenAI about powering this tool but the chatbot is using its own separate, in-house model.
Meta’s generative AI projects
Last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked about the company’s generative AI projects in an all-hands meeting. He said that the company is “going to play an important and unique role in the industry” to bring AI capabilities to “billions of people”.
“In the last year, we’ve seen some really incredible breakthroughs — qualitative breakthroughs — on generative AI and that gives us the opportunity to now go take that technology, push it forward, and build it into every single one of our products,” Zuckerberg was quoted as saying.
Unlike Microsoft and Google, Meta is yet to release consumer-facing generative AI products. However, the company has showcased some projects it is working on. It recently previewed AI in the social media platforms Instagram as well as communication apps Messenger and WhatsApp.
An AI tool could modify user photos via text prompts. Another tool could create emoji stickers for messaging services.
It also previewed AI agents in WhatsApp and Messenger with different personalities and capabilities to help users. AI-generated stickers will also be coming to Messenger.
