Microsoft launched Copilot (formerly Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise) in preview in February, and the company has now announced that its AI companion is generally available. The Windows maker notes that along with the expanded access, Copilot is more efficient and will be able to offer better answers.
“We’re excited to keep this momentum going by announcing that Copilot is now generally available and no longer in preview. With general availability,Microsoft Copilot continues to be your everyday AI companion providing AI-powered web chat,” the company said.
Jordi Ribas, who is the corporate vice president at Microsoft and heads engineering and product for Bing, said that Copilot with commercial data protection is now also generally available to more eligible Microsoft365 licences.

What it means for users
Both regular users and those working in corporations will now be able to use Copilot with all its features powered by GPT-4 and up-to-date information with cited sources.
Commercial users will receive commercial data protection at no additional cost, which means prompts and responses are not saved. Microsoft will not have any eyes on access, and data will not be used by the company to train the underlying large language model (LLM).

Copilot helps users in drafting an email, summarising PDFs and articles, generating images with DALL-E 3, and getting answers to complex questions.
Availability on multiple browsers
Last month, Microsoft announced that Copilot will also be available on more platforms. Those interested will be able to use Copilot with https://copilot.microsoft.com on their preferred browsers.
The company also announced that Bing.com will be available for users who want a combined search and chat experience. Copilot will work on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari browsers and will soon be available on mobile.
