IPL Auction 2024: When and where to watch
Speaking to Cricinfo ahead of the auction, Moody went on to give his predictions for the event. The former SRH coach said he expects Smith to go unsold during the auction. He would then go on to claim that Mitchell Starc would break the all-time auction record of Sam Curran and end up as the most expensive player in the history of the IPL.
Moody then tipped Shahrukh Khan to be bought by CSK for close to nine crores, just shy of the price he was released by PBKS for. Moody went on to say that he expects Gujarat Titans to have the most money left after the auction and players who had a great World Cup 2023 campaign to have a pay-day.
“Firstly, I think Steve Smith will not get picked up in this year’s auction. Secondly, Mitchell Starc will break the all-time auction record which is currently held by Sam Curran with 18.5 crore. I think Starc will go beyond that.”
“Third one is Shahrukh Khan. I think will be picked up by CSK and he won’t be too far off from what he was released for at around nine crore.”
“Fourth prediction is that Gujarat Titans will have the largest purse remaining after the auction. And finally, the World Cup , which was recently held in India will have a big impact. Those who had a successful campaign will have a pay-day,” said Moody.
